Youth Ministry: Healthy & Safety Protocols

For all in-person gatherings…
Below are some safety measures in place, and some ways we ask that you join us in honoring each other’s safety so we can gather in person!

Social distancing—We ask all students to honor a distance of 6 feet apart from each other. Exceptions for social distancing are made only for immediate family.*

*We know many students/families have people beyond immediate family who they have chosen to spend time with in closer proximity! However, while at EPIC, even friends or families who have been spending close time together should practice social distancing. (This will also help minimize cliques so everyone feels welcome!)

Masks—Masks, properly worn, are required for students (and leaders) at all times. Masks may be removed for high intensity outdoor activities, and when seated for eating.

Sanitizing stations—We’ll have plenty of hand-sanitizing stations throughout meeting places, and encourage students to use them often.

Temperature check—Before coming into the gathering space, all students (and leaders) will get their temperature checked with a touch-free forehead thermometer.
•  If a student or family member is experiencing/exhibiting any of the following symptoms, please stay home: fever (100 degrees or greater) or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

What happens if a student or leader tests positive for COVID-19?
Please text or call Holly (407-952-9347) immediately if you, a family member, or someone you have been in close contact with tests positive for COVID-19, or if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. The CDC defines a close contact as someone who was “within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes.”

If the student is part of an in-person gathering small group, we will notify the parents of all members in the group.

If needed, in-person gatherings may move online for a period of time.

Some notes for MS EPIC (in person)
In addition to the above, here are a few specific things to know for our middle school gatherings!

Game Room
While the entirety of the game room will not be open, a few spaces and games will be! We will be moving things around so those areas are socially distanced.

“What is open in the Game Room?”
Note: each area will have a leader there to sanitize controllers, ping pong paddles, pool balls, games, etc. before students rotate players.

  • Smash Brothers – Instead of shared couches, we will have 8 chairs (socially distanced) in front of the Smash Brothers screen.
  • Ping Pong table
  • Carpet Ball
  • Arcade Games (single-player only) – Arcades will be moved 6 feet apart.

Please note: the EPIC Cafe will not be open.

Some notes for HS Family Groups (in person)
In addition to the above, here are a few specific things to know for HS Family Groups!

  • Groups will meet on the EPIC basketball courts or socially distant inside EPIC.
  • While groups are meeting, students should keep their masks on and sit 6 feet apart.
  • Groups will not be mixing or switching students (for easier tracking of who’s been with who!).

Please note: the EPIC Cafe will not be open.
